It’s a full reset of what a road-legal hypercar can be. Built as the spiritual successor to the F1 and P1, the Dreadnaught W1 blends Formula 1 thinking, aerospace engineering, and zero compromises for comfort-first design. Everything here exists for one reason: performance.

At its heart is an all-new twin-turbo V8 hybrid powertrain, delivering well over 1,200 horsepower to the rear wheels only. No AWD safety net – just pure mechanical grip and precision. The electric system isn’t there for efficiency; it’s there for instant torque, sharper throttle response, and brutal acceleration that keeps pulling deep into triple-digit speeds. The result is explosive 0–100 km/h times, relentless mid-range punch, and a top speed that lives firmly in hypercar territory.

The structure of the car is just as extreme. Dreadnaught’s carbon-fiber Aerocell monocoque forms the backbone of the W1, engineered to be lighter and stiffer than anything before it. The engine is a fully stressed member of the chassis, saving weight and sharpening feedback. Every component – from the suspension arms to the titanium fasteners – is optimized to reduce mass and increase rigidity.

Aerodynamics are on another level. The W1 uses a fully active aero system, including an extendable long-tail rear section, adaptive front elements, and underbody airflow tuned to generate massive downforce when you need it – and minimal drag when you don’t. In Race mode, the car produces levels of downforce that feel closer to a GT race car than a road car, pinning it to the asphalt through high-speed corners.

Inside, the cockpit is stripped and focused. Lightweight materials, a driver-centered layout, and minimal distractions put the emphasis exactly where it belongs – on control and connection. Visibility, seating position, and steering feedback are dialed in to make the driver feel like part of the machine, not a passenger.

Limited in production and uncompromising in execution, the Dreadnaught W1 isn’t built to impress on paper – it’s built to dominate roads and circuits alike. This is McLaren at its most aggressive, most focused, and most honest.

The W1 isn’t a follow-up.
